‘Trojan’  refurbishment

Our brief for this one-off 1970s heirloom was to remove the forward bulkhead turning the cramped berths in the forecabin into one large bed as well as to revise the galley area and upgrade the décor.

The customer provided mood boards to give us a sense of what he wanted in terms of colours and materials and the rest was up to us.

This ended up being a three-part project with the first instalment being the rebuilding of the interior.

The walnut gives the boat a warm but contemporary feel and a new arched central bulkhead adds character whilst retaining the necessary strength and integrity.

A large double bed was built which incorporates a new freshwater tank as well as space for ballast in the forward section and a lift-up end section providing useful under-bed storage.

The galley area was completely rebuilt with bespoke crockery and cutlery storage, a built-in fridge and new sink unit.  On deck the layout of the cabin was revamped to make for more user-friendly seating and storage areas with the engine console rebuilt to incorporate a new chartplotter.

The whole of the exterior has been repainted with the cabin top resheated with fibreglass and epoxy.

In short, ‘Trojan’ has been given a new lease of life, ready for the next generation.
